Play Music
Play music by using great learning
resources
In our quest to
play music, we're
able to shorten the learning curve by taking advantage of the many
affordable learning resources available today. In addition to music
books, major publishers now offer instructional videos, DVD's and
CD-ROM's. This has allowed many to forgo lessons with 'live'
teachers, and yet go on to play music with a high level of
competence.
Many of the audio or videotaped instructors in these learning
resources are accomplished musicians who teach or have taught at
major universities. Many can be heard on jingles, movie soundtracks
or playing with your favorite music artists. In some cases it just
might be one of your favorite artists who's instructing.
In our quest
to learn and play music, we'll find various approaches to the same
concerns. For example, melody and harmony concepts might be learned from books,
but instructional videos or interactive software can offer an applied view of these concepts.
And by combining both of these resources we can fill the gaps in our
knowledge and gain a higher degree of
understanding.
Learning to play music for some people requires more interaction
than music books can offer. In order for them to stay focused and
motivated these individuals may do better with the aid of music
software, which would also teach them the same theory and concepts
but allow them the ability to play and interact with the subject
matter by way of midi key-board.
This may be the most effective of all the
learning resources.
To learn to play
music with the aid of academic software like Musition 2.0 may or may not
be better than instructional videos
and books, but pro-grams such as this usually have an extensive database of
user-defined, level-appropriate drills. In most cases the user has
the ability to follow and document their own progress. And that's a great
incentive for staying on track!
Remember, to play music
better requires the best learning resources available to you in
order to 'Minimize the Mystery & Maximize the Magic' as you
teach yourself to play.
